Horn River Basin: Newest Nat.Gas Mega-find

An area 775 miles northwest of Calgary in B.C., the Muskwa shale in the Horn River Basin, could become one of the largest gas fields in North America.  Companies with leaseholds include EOG Resources, EnCana,Nexen, Deven, and Apache.   News of initial drilling successes has moved some of the stocks substantially higher.  While the find is being compared with the Barnett shale in scope, the gas may be more difficult to extract and transport.  Moreover, native tribes control much of the surface rights and permits are required.

Jim - According to many analysts, the Shale Gas in northeast BC’s Muskwa Shale is twice the size of the Barnett Shale in the US. Looks like unconventional gas in BC (Muskwa Shale); and unconventional oil in northern Alberta (Oil Sands) are the one-two punch for energy sources. Any juniors in the Shale Gas are you watching?

Have a look @ Trivello Energy Corp. TRV.v They have a 51-101 with 15 bcf. Their last news release confirms they are going to fracture their first well in November. I understand they are located in the Horn River area with 60 meters of shale pay. Surrounded by Petro Canada.Looks like this may be the first JR producer here.

You may want to reconsider Trivello Energy. If you liked it back then you will really like it now. Simple reason. The Company has consolidated to only 13.5 million shares, but recently cut a deal to increase their interest in the Lucy to 40%. Their website is http://www.trivello.com
